The Carpenter CBW-300 buses were RTA's first new bus purchase after taking over New Orleans Public Service transit operations on July 1, 1983. They arrived in late 1983 and were used in feeder service (such as the CBD Shuttles, Palmer Park, Broadway, Vieux Carre) and on express lines (such as 80 and 81).
