The original M.V. Golden Gate was built in 1969 by San Diego Marine Construction Company and provided service for Golden Gate Transit from August 15, 1970 to March 26, 2004. A new catamaran with the same name was put into service May 2011; click the number 2 in the links to visit my page.

The original M.V. Golden Gate ran its last trips on March 26, 2004. I rode the 2:35 p.m. departure from the San Francisco Ferry Building to Sausalito.
