The second vessel to bear the name M.V. Golden Gate was built in 1998 by Dakota Creek Industries
for Washington State Ferry as the M.V. Chinook. Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District bought
the catamaran in 2009, refurbished the vessel, and introduced it to Larkspur Ferry service on May 16, 2011.
