NOPSI PERLEY THOMAS CAR No. 851:

This busy photo dated about January 1948 depicts the intersection of Canal, Bourbon, and Carondelet Sts. Of interest to this page is car 851 on the Desire line turning into Bourbon. That would date the photo before May 30, 1948, when Desire was substituted with buses. Other car numbers discernible are 873 on the Cemeteries line inbound and 907 on the West End line outbound. The Freret line, now a trolley coach, seems to be substituted with White 1643. The car entering the center inbound track is an 800-972 series on the Tulane Belt line. A South Claiborne car is in the outer track on the uptown side of Canal. The picture appears to be taken from the Maison Blanche building. Uncredited photo from the collection of H. George Friedman added 03/11/21.
