Mystery Trips 2025
Yesterday, I learned that San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency decorated three vehicles
in honor of the 60th anniversary of the founding of The Grateful Dead. While the liveries do not
indicate the band, they do suggest a flower power, tie dye, Haight Ashbury theme. The vehicles
are Siemens 2046 operating N Judah, New Flyer 6612 on the 7 Haight/Noriega, and New Flyer 7227
on the 5R Fulton Rapid and 5 Fulton.
I got off work early and drove up to the end of the 7 line
to wait for the 6612. Got the shots outbound at Noriega and 47th Ave. and inbound at Haight and
Laguna. (The coach ran over 15 minutes late, so it skipped the outermost part of the route and
began pickups on Lincoln Way. Preceded the bus to the beginning of Haight Street, found a parking
space, and waited just a few minutes for it to pass me.)
Next was the 7227 operating the 5R. My shots were on La Playa at Cabrillo outbound and
turning inbound from La Playa to Fulton.
And then I went to Judah and 48th Ave. for the 2046. When I arrived, I discovered Siemens 2017
decorated for the World Pride event held May-June 2025 in the District of Columbia. Took pictures
and then paid attention to newly arrived 2046. Both these decorated cars were trailing lead cars.
When I was done on Judah, I followed the route of the 37 Corbett to take pictures on Roosevelt Way,
then drove over to the Castro District. After locating parking above the unused Eureka Portal,
I walked down to Jane Warner Plaza to get shots of PCCs on the F Market line, along with some
24 Divisadero, 35 Eureka, 37 Corbett, and UCSF campus buses.
The meal at the end is at Nation's Giant Burgers in Daly City.
Nikon D5600 and Samsung Galaxy A54 5G cameras yielded 290 photos. Peace out.
