Mystery Trips 2025
The 2025 summer season of MST Trolley operation was coming to an end Labor Day, September 1.
I drove down to get my last photos of the season.
Stopped in Salinas first on the chance that electrics would be in service. More below.
Had my usual Mongolian Beef at Jim's Restaurant on Del Monte Blvd. in Seaside. Miss Helen
takes care of all her customers; she's very friendly on a personal level. She knows my name
because of the credit and debit cards I use to pay the bill, and she's so happy I enjoy my
visits to Jim's.
I headed to downtown Monterey when I saw Gillig battery electric 2202 heading to Salinas on the 20.
Made the U-turn and passed it up to get photos at Sand City Station. Also got a Jazz livery bus.
Continued to downtown Monterey, heading first to Monterey Bay Aquarium. I was surprised to see
BYD battery electric 2200 in service on the MST Trolley. Parked on Wave St. at Hoffman Ave. to take
shots of the 2200 and Hometown trolley 1910. Went to Lighthouse Ave. and Reeside St. for some of the
route 1, 2, Jazz A, and Jazz B buses. Enough time passed that 2200 had made a round trip and turned
from Reeside before my camera.
Hometown trolleys 1909 and 1911 were also in service on MST Trolley.
I parked downtown to ride 1910 to the Aquarium and 2200 back. Then drove back to David and Wave Sts. to
snap a little more trolley route buses, including the BYD.
I then drove to Seaside Laundromat on Fremont Blvd. Right as I parked, Gillig 2203 pulled up to the
stop at Ord Grove Ave. on the 20 to Salinas. I got some quick rear curbside shots of the bus loading and
departing, then washed my clothes. Hoped the 2203, which I thought was 2202, would return to Monterey,
but the schedule implied to me that it was gonna head to the yard after reaching Salinas. Sure enough,
the bus that did correspond to the next arrival at Fremont and Ord Grove was a regular Gillig.
Drove back home after that.
Nikon D5600 and Samsung Galaxy A16 5G cameras yielded 266 photos.
