PCC 1730, the "Mod Desire" trolley, on route 42/38 at Smithfield St. and Fourth Ave. in downtown Pittsburgh on May 27, 1973. At right is Dollar Savings Bank, which still exists in 2012 as Dollar Bank. Surface trackage was removed after light rail cars were rerouted underground during the 1980s. Scan comes from a slide by G.E. Lloyd in my collection and was added added 08/18/12.

PHOTOS TAKEN IN 1976:

PCC 1730 at South Hills Junction on April 30, 1976. On the hill above the junction are some towers, which are a part of the Liberty Tunnel Fan House at 99 Secane St. The "Mod Desire" lettering is no longer visible. Two slides in my collection added 03/18/12.
