Coast Futura is a streetcar project sponsored
by the Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Commission to operate on existing rails
in the county. Two demonstration operations were offered in October 2021. The first was a shuttle
in Watsonville. The second, which this page documents, gave rides from the Boardwalk to a spot along the
Saratoga Ave. benches overlooking Monterey Bay in Capitola. The streetcar is built by TIG/m
and uses a hybrid battery dominant system with regenerative braking and an optional generator.
I visited various places along the line to get the photos. Santa Cruz Metro buses are also included.
